The University of Pennsylvania's Mask And Wig is the oldest all-male collegiate musical comedy troupe in the United States. Mask And Wig will perform in Chicago forone night only with their show A Volcanic Corruption.

About the show:
Go tribal with Mask And Wig in its 123rd annual production, "A Volcanic Corruption," as we take you on an epic journey deep into the heart of darkness. After embarking on an ambitious hot air balloon journey to the sun, three dysfunctional siblings find themselves lost in deflation when a freak accident lands them on a tropical island. What started as an inconvenient detour soon turns treacherous, and with paradise lost, our heroes are forced into a struggle for life, limb, and gender identity. They must overcome ravenous tribesmen, an explosive volcano, and their own lust for power if they ever hope to see their overpriced cappuccinos again. Will they evade the wrath of the natives' god? Will they find lava in all the wrong places? Can they stop themselves from careening down the fatal road to El Dorado? Put your conch shells on vibrate and join Mask And Wig as we discover that, no matter how far away it seems, the sun is just a state of mind.

Cost: $30 for paid Penn Club or Wharton Club members, $40 for non-members; special Student Rate, $20 with valid Student ID. Buy tickets online.

A Twist of Water centers on Noah, a gay, widowed history teacher, raising his adopted African-American daughter Jira alone in the wake of his husband's death in a car accident. When Jira decides that she wants to seek out her birth mother, Noah's already grief-stricken and strained relationship with his child is pressed to the breaking point. As he struggles to hold on to and rebuild his family, a burgeoning new romance with a younger man serves to complicate matters, but may also be a saving grace. This world premiere introduces us to a seemingly non-traditional family, and at the heart of their story is our beloved city of Chicago, whose history and progress is the centerpiece of the play. A Twist of Water is a love letter to the Windy City, a deeply funny and profoundly touching story of fathers and daughters, and what it means to be a family.

Variety and the Chicago Tribune have both marked A Twist of Water as a play to see this season, and Around the Town Chicago gave it five stars! And Mayor-Elect Emanuel recently enjoyed the show.

“Sexicon: Language and Identity”

The words we use to identify ourselves can be powerful and fun but they can also stereotype or label us.  Within the LGBT community, the words are as diverse as the people they represent.  Many words have strong historic roots, some have been re-claimed, and new ones are created every day.  Individuals of diverse backgrounds including Chuck Renslow, Tommy Walton, Christina Kharl, Emilia Chico, and Kim Hunt, will take the stage and provide a personal insight into the word that defines an aspect of who they are.  This lively evening includes audience participation and is led by scholar, Erica Meiners.

Cost:  $12, $10 for CHM members and students.  Click the RSVP link above to buy tickets online. Look for our welcome table and sign-in sheet when you arrive at the front desk!
